Resources to Aid Families

Children Advocacy Center

Chicago's Children Advocacy Center helps fight against child sexual abuse. It is Chicago's only non-profit that houses protection staff, law enforcement professional, family advocates, medical experts, and mental health clinicians all under roof for children.

List of Food Resources

Food insecurity is one of the leading issues in Chicago with it holding 8 food deserts in its limits. Many of the small grocery stores that did provide nourishment to the communities in Chicago have had their doors close these past couple months due to COVID-19 and looting. This link offers a large list of food banks, organizations, and pantries that individuals are able to visit to pick up food when needed.

Metropolitan Chicago

YWCA Chicago offers services for families and women that are in search of help. They focus on offering wellness, to keep a healthy lifestyle. Resources and locations for food pantries for families in need. Resources to give parents tips for parenting effectively at home during this uncertain time.  Having children at home and doing e-learning can be difficult. There are many resources that YWCA offers to those who need it.

Chicago Cares

Chicago Cares' mission is to create a more unified Chicago through volunteerism. They acknowledge Chicago's history of racial, economic, and social segregation which allows negative narratives to exist. By building deeper partnerships with neighborhoods that have comprehensive or developing community plans, they invest directly in communities where the infusion of volunteers has the capacity to be transformational.

Greater Chicago Food Depository

The Food Depository is a part of a united community effort working to bring food, dignity and hope to those residing within Cook County. They act as a hub for a network of more than 700 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other programs. These programs provide food where it's most needed.
